I came to the Netherlands about four years ago. As beautiful as I found the country, one thing was missing: flavour. I grew up in Delhi, the heart of India, where flavour-packed food is part of every meal, three times a day. Suddenly, that was gone.

I tried the Indian restaurants here, hoping to find a taste of home, but the food rarely felt authentic. Sometimes a dish wasn't even what the menu promised. So I decided to cook the food I was craving myself. Coming from India, I knew exactly how it was supposed to taste and which ingredients it needed.

Whenever I had friends over, they loved the food, but had no idea how to make it themselves. That's where Koken uit India was born: a way to share Indian cooking so that people understand the basics of the cuisine and aren't afraid to try it.
